Welcome! I (Courtney) am a doctoral student in Art Education. I am using this journal as a weblog version of my sketchbook as I explore interconnections of Ceramics and Archaeology in Education. Here I will document my responses to related literature and my own artistic processes, as relating to my specific interests in Ceramics, Archaeology, and Education Philosophy. I have used my "To Do" list to chart out coursework I'd like to take during my program.

I chose this format because I hoped it would keep my thoughts and work organized. Further, I wanted my journal/sketchbook to have vitality (hence: "live" journal) and interactivity. Please feel free to comment here. I appreciate your time and thoughtfulness in doing so.

Those interested in topics relating to Visual Art and Education may peruse the arted community on this site, or browse through livejournals of others that list art or education as interests. Another interesting forum for creative arts is www.lostsoulcompanion.com. I have reviewed other livejournals and placed many of them on my "friends" and "community" lists here as well. (Please note that if you place me as a "friend" - my friends list will be hidden so that only I will read your personal journal and it will not be included in my "related livejournals" page for others to access.)

*My_Saraswati is my username in honor of the goddess. Saraswati, or "the flowing one," is the goddess of learning, arts, culture, and creativity. She is usually seen playing the Vina. To this day, Saraswati is worshiped throughout India, and on her special day is worshiped by school childen as the patron goddess of learning. Saraswati is also one of the three great rivers along with the Ganga and the Yamuna. She is the wife of the great God Brahma, and her vehicle is a swan or peacock.
